A Spooky Anthology of Young Adult Horror Stories

Fall is here. The temperature is changing. The leaves are dropping. It’s that magical time of year where Halloween begins to creep into the imaginations of children of all ages. (For the two weeks before retail stores begin shoving the “you-know-what” season down everyone’s throats.)

Everyone is thinking about that great night of candy and costumes. The authors and illustrators behind Halloween Night: Trick or Treat would love to share some stories with readers to spread the spooky vibes. First published in 2015, the anthology features short stories and drawings from a wide range of contributors.

Editor Jolene Haley

Many of the stories are under 10 pages long. They’re, pardon the pun, bite-size glimpses into the supernatural, the scary and sometimes the startling. None of them are overly frightening or violent and most seemed aimed for the YA crowd. The length of the stories doesn’t mean they aren’t engaging. Several include thorough details or elaborate setups.

Readers looking for an introduction to the season will enjoy the collection of tales that make up Halloween Night: Trick or Treat. Parents may want to read through the stories first, but for children of the right age and mindset, this book will welcome in more laughs than nightmares.

The book is available in print or in eBook format. It is 110 pages in length.
