Children’s Hunger Fund: Here and Abroad

In January, we will be launching a 12-week healthy lifestyle program to help people lose weight, meet their health goals, and raise money for charities. Many of the interested participants want to raise money for their local congregations, which is great. Others aren’t certain where they want to send help.

Losing weight is one thing, and it’s one thing that thousands and thousands of Americans are going to promise themselves as a New Year’s Resolution. The Shrink-a-thon program supports these individuals in two ways. First, no one is alone in this program. Shrink-a-thon members participate, learn, and succeed as teams. Teams provide accountability and support throughout the program.

Second, the program gives us a reason that is bigger than ourselves. As I mentioned, participants get sponsors to pledge for every pound or inch they lose during the program. That money goes to real causes, like the Children’s Hunger Fund.

CHF offers relief to children throughout the world, including poverty-stricken neighborhoods in the United States. This help comes in several forms, including the Food Pak program. Through this program, contributors have been able to provide nutrition to impoverished families everywhere.

Think about it. We could reach our health goals, get back to the weight we want, feel better on a daily basis, and help starving children in the process. Think of the children in Haiti, in California, in Texas, in your town. We can make a difference, improving our lives and vastly improving theirs.
