An Unexpected Business Journey

I had originally thought today was going to be one of those buffet-style days. I thought I was going to be occupied in my day job, my home business, one of my bands, and who-knows what else.

Somehow, the stars aligned, and it didn’t happen that way at all. Let me explain.

I began my day with my regularly scheduled weekly meeting to represent my nutrition business. (For those of you who don’t already know, my wife and I are associates with a health and wellness company called Usana Health Sciences – info HERE.) This weekly meeting is a chapter of Business Networking International, or BNI. Normally, I get a chance to present a bit about who I am, what we do, and who we’re looking for as clients. That went as planned, and we had a great turnout on a beautiful weather day. (For the record, we’re looking for wedding planners and bridal consultants.)

I was supposed to then switch hats and run to the day job to spend time in a datacenter helping a customer, but that appointment got canceled. No sooner did that drop off of my plate than I got a message from a colleague in our nutrition business asking me to meet for lunch. Heck, yeah! A chance to keep my head on my residual income and catch up with a buddy. So, we met for Indian food (which was better than I thought it would be.) We talked about all sorts of things, and I realized that one of the young ladies we’ve been playing phone tag with worked across the parking lot!

I had a chance to catch up to her and place her order. So, one customer canceling turned into a new customer for our nutrition business. Nice exchange rate! I also caught up with another friend who’s a great salesperson, and we chatted about sales and marketing and she gave me some great ideas.

Then, Division rehearsal got canceled. This would normally give me a chance to stay home and chill with the family, but of all nights, tonight was a Business After Hours event for the local Chamber of Commerce. I attended that and met some other great contacts, and got another order. So, all the other dominoes fell today, and the path that was exposed led to growth in our home-based business.

It’s not the normal sort of business day, but it was certainly productive and should lead to additional business, and a chance to help a few new clients reach their health and weight goals. I wouldn’t rely on it as a daily system, but today, for just one day, it worked for me!

Have you ever had a day where everything just fell into place for one of your goals?

All the best,
nK
